C.O.S.I. VISIT

Today a representative from C.O.S.I. visited our class and taught us about animal habitats.  After learning more about what a habitat is, children enjoyed visiting and exploring 3 different stations/activities--Separating a pile of objects into those that are trash and those that would be good for an animal habitat; observing live worms; and discussing/building different habitats for toy animals.  we had a special visitor too--"Bucket"--the box turtle.  The children watched Bucket eat a worm for snack!  Check out the photos in the slide show!  Thank you to our parent volunteers who helped during today's visit.

Pre-K "A" Rests Outside

Since it is "Outdoor Week" and the weather was warm and sunny, we decided to rest outside in the shade!

Worms, worms, worms!!!!

COSI with Pre-K B!

We had a great visit from COSI today!
We learned all about some local animals, their habitat and what they eat.
We also met a turtle who is around 30 years old!!!

After we worked in a large group, we broke up into small groups and
worked on different skills.

Make sure to ask me what I did in the different stations!

COOKING CLASS 5-21-12

DIRT DESSERT!~
Today we read the book, Wonderful Worms, and learned some interesting facts about worms, including why they come out in the rain; which end is their head; and that they have a top side and a bottom side.  After reading the story, we made our own individual "Dirt Desserts".  First, we put Oreos and/or graham crackers into a ziplock bag, zipped it closed, and crushed the cookies to look like dirt.  We then dumped our "dirt" into a clear plastic cup.  Next, we added chocolate and/or vanilla pudding which represented mud.  Finally, we added a gummy worm to complete the dessert.  This was a popular snack today!

5-16-12

While one group worked with I-Pads today, another group played a phonics game.  The game included activities to rhyme words; identify beginning, middle, or ending sounds of words; sound out words; and fill in the missing letter of a word.
