Discovery Day

With all the rain we have had, we tried to make our own rain!

First we filled a class container with very hot water.

Then we added ice to the bowl on top of our hot water.

While we waited for a few minutes, we discussed how water has its own cycle.

We also discussed how water can be a liquid, solid, and a gas.

 After a few minutes, we looked at the bottom of our plate...

and WOW!!!

There was rain forming on the bottom of the plate!

We also discussed how condensation is very similar to rain and how both are formed

in a very similar manner.

We also read this book, The Rain Came Down, to start off our discussion on rain.

BUT, as cool as rain is... we are ready for it to end!
