We did a messy, yummy discovery activity today! First, the children were shown the fruit in the photo below and asked to identify it. Answers included: an onion; a pomegranate; an apple. The children were told it was a pomegranate and given the opportunity to hold it as the teacher told them facts about this fruit including: it is one of the oldest fruits; it is grown in warm places; it can have up to 1,000 seeds; and the part of the fruit you eat are the seeds.. Next, after washing hands and putting on a smock, each child was given his/her own piece of a pomegranate to take apart and eat. Be sure to ask your child about pomegranates!
