On Monday this week, we discussed how animals who live in the woods find food to eat. We then discussed how they find food during the Winter months. The book, Animals In Winter, explained how animals survive during the Winter--hibernating, migrating, collecting/storing food before Winter, etc. To help out our animal friends, we made some special "feeders". In groups of 4, the children assigned each group member a task--a blueberry collector, a craisin collector, an orange collector, and someone to pour the water. Each group had a round container which they filled with craisins, blueberries, oranges, and water. Once the bowls were filled, the teachers put them into the freezer to freeze the contents. Today, we took the frozen fruit feeders out of the freezer; attached string; and took them outside to hang in the trees. We hung some of the feeders outside Pre-K "A" and some outside Pre-K "B". When the weather warms up, the ice will melt and the animals can enjoy eating the fruits!
